‘US, THEM’ explores the often
overlooked issue of ageism experienced by women in the workplace. Grounded in primary research, the project draws on
in-depth interviews with eight women aged between 50 and 70, each sharing personal accounts of marginalisation, invisibility, and resilience within professional environments.These interviews
were translated into an editorial-style publication, to foreground their voices in a way that feels both intimate and collective.
The project is conceived not only as a conversation, but as a catalyst for further dialogue, an attempt to start conversations around a subject that is often unspoken or
overlooked. The final outcome takes the form of a broadsheet newspaper, a deliberate format choice that
references traditional media while subverting its conventions.
By positioning these women’s stories within a public, large-scale printed format, the project challenges the absence of older female perspectives in mainstream discourse and invites readers to reconsider ingrained assumptions around age, gender, and value in the workplace.
